Understanding the complex relationships between the behavior and perception of living things, including humans, and the environment.
American perceptual psychologist, J.J. Gibson advocated a unique psychology called Ecological Psychology, and created a concept called the “Theory of Affordance”. This Theory of Affordance has been promulgated in various fields such as design, art and rehabilitation, and has now become established as one of the fundamental terms, albeit sometimes understood in a radically simplified manner. However, the concept does in fact explore extremely complex relationships between the behavior, perceptions and environment of living things, including humans. This class focuses on the Theory of Affordance, examining the extremely complex relationships between the behavior, perception and environment of living things.

アメリカの知覚心理学者、J. J. ギブソンは、生態心理学という独自の心理学を提唱しましたが、その際に「アフォーダンス」という概念もつくり出しました。このアフォーダンス概念は、デザインやアート、リハビリテーションなど様々な領域で取り上げられ、今では基本的用語の一つとして定着していますが、時として非常に単純化されて理解されることもあります。しかし、実際にはこの概念は人を含む生き物の振る舞いと知覚、環境の非常に複雑な関係に踏み込むものです。この授業ではアフォーダンスを軸に、生き物の振る舞いと知覚、環境の非常に複雑な関係について考察していきます。
