【Course Objectives】

In this course, we will study various religious worldviews and value systems, such as those of Shinto, Buddhism and others, and examine the role which diverse religious beliefs and practices have played in the formation of Japanese culture, as well as how they have affected local communities in Japan.
The main goal of this course is acquiring basic knowledge on Japanese religions and how they have shaped and influenced Japanese culture. The course also aims to help students develop the ability to think objectively and from different viewpoints about social and cultural issues pertaining to religion at the community level.

【Course Contents】

In this course we will study about religions in Japan (such as Shinto, Buddhism or Confucianism, etc.) and their influence on Japanese culture and local communities.
