- Theoretically understand the concepts of, and causal explanations related to, "peace" and "community"
- Empirically examine these topics using data
- Develop the capacity to think and analyze proactively and independently
We will consider "community peace," using scientific methodology, i.e., both theory and data. The course will cover from discussing the definitions of abstract concepts such as "community" and "peace," to understanding causal explanations such as those on why peace collapses. We will examine data quantitatively and qualitatively.

「コミュニティ平和」について、科学的方法、すなわち理論とデータの両方を用いて、考えていきます。「コミュニティ」や「平和」といった抽象的概念の定義の議論から、なぜ平和は崩れるのかといった因果的説明まで取り扱います。データは、量的・質的両方の観点から、検証していきます。
We will consider "community peace," using scientific methodology, i.e., both theory and data. The course will cover from discussing the definitions of abstract concepts such as "community" and "peace," to understanding causal explanations such as those on why peace collapses. We will examine data quantitatively and qualitatively.

この講義では、自発的に情報や資料を集め、理解し、分析する意欲を常に持つことが、期待されます。講義自体は、講師が各内容について一方的に話すという形ではなく、学生の上記の意欲を支援する、双方向性的な形を取ります。そのため、積極的に授業に参加することが求められます。特段の事情がない限り、カメラをオンにした状態で出席することが望まれます。
統計分析の事前知識は必須ではありませんが、表計算や表の読み方の基礎的な知識は、講義内容を理解するうえで有用です。また、基礎的な一次方程式・一次関数の知識はあるものと想定します。
紹介する文献はすべて英語ですので、英語の論文や新聞記事を読むための英語力が求められます。
