【Course Objectives】

(1) Understand the social circumstances surrounding the lives of the elderly.
(2) To be able to acquire knowledge that will serve as the basis for specific practical activities, such as an overview of the outline of the Long-Term Care Insurance System and the system of services, their contents and procedures.
(3) To be able to describe how to support the elderly through multidisciplinary cooperation with professionals.

【Course Contents】

With a declining birth rate, the number of elderly people in need of care is rapidly increasing.
In April 2000, the Long-Term Care Insurance Act was enacted, establishing the Long-Term Care Insurance System, a structure that provides mutual support for long-term care throughout society.
In addition, the Certified Social Worker and Certified Care Worker Act was enacted in 1987 and substantially revised in 2007.
In order to respond to the demand for long-term care due to the increase in the number of elderly people in long-term care and the prolongation of long-term care due to the progress of aging, we are facing an era in which highly specialized professionals with knowledge and skills are needed.
In this course, you will gain a multifaceted understanding of the phenomena and issues surrounding the lives of the elderly, as well as learn about the main long-term care insurance law and long-term care insurance systems to support them.
Students will also deepen their understanding of the role of social welfare professionals in contemporary society and care systems.
