【Course Objectives】

The goal of this class is to acquire a multifaceted perspective in order to understand the mechanisms of poverty countermeasures such as public assistance, their problems, and how they should be, after understanding the theory and reality of contemporary poverty and the wealth gap.

【Course Contents】

We will review various theories regarding poverty, such as relative deprivation, and the actual situation of poverty in Japan and other countries. And, we will present the mechanisms and issues of public assistance and self-reliance support systems for people in poverty, which are anti-poverty measures. Finally, we will provide a comprehensive review of poverty and poverty countermeasures in Japan.
