【Course Objectives】

In the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Goal 16 champions the establishment of peace, while Goal 17 advocates for the creation of partnerships. The avoidance of warfare is a prerequisite for the realization of a sustainable world. However, currently, two forms of conflict are prevalent: conflicts among people and conflicts between humanity and nature. This situation necessitates a fundamental reassessment of the relationships between people and between humanity and nature. This course aims to critically examine the current situation, using sustainability, welfare, and community as its guiding principles. The objective of this course is to critically examine the current situation with a focus on sustainability, welfare, and community as key concepts. Upon this examination, students will be encouraged to concretely contemplate and initiate actions that they can undertake in the present context.

【Course Contents】

To facilitate a fundamental reassessment of the relationships between people and between humans and nature, this course emphasizes learning and practicing methods of communication. Additionally, after critically analyzing the current state of climate change, energy, food, and agricultural supply and distribution systems, students will engage in studying initiatives for autonomously managing these life-sustaining areas at the community level. Furthermore, students are expected to undertake specific actions, discuss these processes in groups, and compile their findings and reflections in a report.
