【Course Objectives】

In this course, we aim for students to engage in community-based learning to contribute to society, deepening their scholarly knowledge in the process, which we define as service learning. We strive to enhance their theoretical background, skills, and more for this purpose. Specifically, our objectives are as follows:
- Understanding the role of service learning in contemporary society through the study of its principles and history.
- Identifying the needs of local communities and analyzing and planning effective intervention strategies to address them.
- Developing reflection skills to learn from experiences gained through service learning activities and deepen scholarly knowledge.
- Acquiring skills to plan and implement projects in collaboration with members and organizations of local communities, as well as fostering a consciousness and sense of responsibility to actively contribute to society as individuals.

【Course Contents】

This subject primarily covers the following topics:
- The theory, history, and educational significance of service learning.
- Ways to engage with the community, identify its needs, and forms of sustainable social contribution.
- Planning, implementation, and evaluation methods for service-learning projects.
- Communication and leadership for advancing service learning.
- Reflection techniques to deepen learning from service-learning experiences and methods to evaluate project outcomes.
- Ethical considerations in service learning.
- Designing and presenting service learning programs by groups.
