【Course Objectives】

In this term, we will study practice analysis as an analytical method to study the process of human development and learning. In particular, we would like to study the process of becoming a professional. Modern society is said to be a lifelong learning society that demands constant learning, but what does it mean for a person to become a professional in such a situation? In this regard, we will take up Donald A. Schön's "The Reflective Practitioner: How professionals think in action," which has already been established as an essential reference work, and critically examine it. The book raises interesting questions in examining the learning of the art of practicing professionals in various domains, such as engineers, teachers, scientists, architects, and managers. Today, becoming an expert or becoming proficient is considered to be a collective, collaborative "entanglement," and reflection is being reinterpreted as diffraction. In order to understand these trends, it will make a certain amount of sense for beginning students interested in learning processes in various fields to review this book, which has already become a classic. The goal of the course is to provide students with the basic knowledge to analyze their own research projects.

【Course Contents】

The class consists of (1) a discussion of the papers concerning learning and development and (2) research studies and data sessions that are freely set according to the interests of each student. Since the common assignment will be presented in advance, students will read it to confirm unclear points and deepen their understanding through discussions. In the research review, students will introduce the papers they are interested in and the research studies they are currently working on.
Talk and think deeply in this community of research practice. Guests, including overseas researchers, will join our discussion anytime.
