【Course Objectives】

The modern notion of homosexuality was born in 1867.
In some novels of Adalbert Stifter, which were written in 1840s and 1850s,we can find some kinds of homoerotic desire and homoerotic relationships.
We will two Stifter's novels as well as secondary literature focusing on this topic, so that we would discuss about the historical constellation and meanings of such texts.

- to read Adalbert Stifters novels "Brigitta" and "Kalkstein"
- to read secondary literatur about these texts focusing on homoerotic deseire
