The purpose of this course is to help students develop a perspective that places their own expertise in a broader historical context. To this end, students will acquire the skills to share their area of expertise with a broad audience.
After reviewing the students’ research topics, the course will cover a wide range of research papers including topics outside of the students’ field of research, in order to better understanding their own fields within larger contexts. By understanding neighboring regions and similar phenomena, students will develop the ability to employ a comparative perspective and place their own major within a broader context. The goal of the course is to provide students with an understanding of current research in a wide range historical, not limited to their own field of specialization.

自らの専門性に立脚しつつ、より広い歴史的文脈に自身の専門領域を置く視点を養う。そのために、専門性をより多くの人々と共有するための技能を習得する。

履修生の研究・関心テーマについて確認したのち、履修生の専門以外の分野も含めて、幅広く研究論文を輪講します。近接諸地域や類似現象について理解することで、比較の視点を養いつつ、自身の専門性をより広い文脈に位置づけることを目指します。専門分野に限らず、幅広く現在の歴史学ではどのような研究がなされているのかを理解すること・伝えることをゴールとします。
