【Course Objectives】

Understanding the notion of embeddedness as a basic perspective on economic phenomena, and sociologically recognizing the various problems behind the economic phenomena that are occurring today through the notion of embeddedness.

【Course Contents】

This course is an introduction to sustainability studies. We will outline the viewpoints and methods of sociologically thinking about economic phenomena, based on the trend of "new economic sociology" that has developed mainly in the United States since the latter half of the 1980s. Focusing on the the modern characteristics of the market mechanism, we will introduce the notion of embeddedness as a perspective of understanding economic phenomena.
