【Course Objectives】

In this seminar, we will examine the recent upsurge in Chinese nationalism. Participants from different backgrounds will deepen their understanding of the region in which they live through literature study and discussion. Participants will also hone their literature research and presentation skills through group work.

【Course Contents】

Since the start of the U.S.-China trade war in 2018, there has been a marked increase in external nationalism in Chinese society. At the same time, the Chinese leadership has been giving more positive signals for Taiwan unification amid the sluggish Chinese economy. Taiwan unification is also deeply tied to Chinese nationalism. In this seminar, we will explore the nature of Chinese nationalism and the role it has played through literature study and group work.
Please note that the number of literature reports and the number of presenters each time will be determined by the number of participants and their interests, so please consider the class plan as a guide. Chinese may also be used when explaining Chinese materials, news, and background information.
