【Course Objectives】

While consulting recently published research, we will closely examine important Japanese Protestant works from the Meiji period, further analyse and consider their context and the discourses that were triggered by these works from the perspective of history of thought.

【Course Contents】

In consultation with the course participants a few Protestant works from the Meiji period will be selected for thorough reading. During class discussions we will assess the impact of arguments and propositions contained in those works on the intellectual history of modern Japan.
