【Course Objectives】

We will learn about the tradition of Christian thought in Christian history. It originally had more significance from its academic applications with modern sense than simply researching the history of the church and its doctrine, because the role sought for Christianity in the current complex world situation is broad. However, in the current Christian world, there are internal rivalries and divisions. It is a big challenge to move forward with peace. In a situation like that, by reconfirming the origin of where we stand based on the history and tradition of various religious groups and denominations as well as their respective characteristics, it is possible to reform and deepen self-understanding and mutual understanding and at the same time, by referring to both the past and present as well as searching and discovering the foundation of Christian interactive mutual understanding.

【Course Contents】

We will deepen our understanding of theological and philosophical thought from the texts of Christian thinkers to achieve the above purpose of the course. This year we will treat "de veritate et verbo". The content may change depending on the situation of the students. I plan to use texts that have Japanese translations.
