This course is designed for students who have completed the beginner- and intermediate-level study. Students will learn to read sentences on familiar topics. Several different styles of writing will be presented in order to develop reading skills. Students will also learn to read sentences containing unfamiliar words, without the use of a dictionary, by relying on context and other clues. Moreover, reading comprehension will be used as a tool to build students’ active and passive vocabulary knowledge.
Students will be presented a variety of reading materials in various styles, such as descriptions, essays, newspaper articles, and novels, to learn reading skills, comprehend contents, etc. Students will also have discussions on what they have read. Moreover, quizzes on designated vocabulary will be given every class in order to build vocabulary.

初中級(しょちゅうきゅう)修了(しゅうりょう)レベルの学習者(がくしゅうしゃ)を対象(たいしょう)とする。身近(みぢか)な話題(わだい)について書(か)かれた文章(ぶんしょう)を読(よ)めるようにする。様々(さまざま)なスタイルの文章(ぶんしょう)に触(ふ)れ,読(よ)みのスキルを伸(の)ばす。また,意味(いみ)の分(わ)からない語(ご)が含(ふく)まれる文章(ぶんしょう)を,文脈(ぶんみゃく)を活用(かつよう)するなどして,辞書(じしょ)を使(つか)わずに読(よ)めるようにする。 さらに,読解(どっかい)を通(とお)して使用(しよう)語彙(ごい),理解(りかい)語彙(ごい)を増(ふ)やす。
