【Course Objectives】

This course is designed for students who have completed the first half of intermediate-level study. Its purpose is to develop their understanding of slightly advanced grammatical structures and sentence patterns used in everyday conversation, novels, and other materials.

【Course Contents】

Students will learn sentence patterns and vocabulary used in videos, newspaper articles, novels, and other sources. Rather than simply introducing the new material, the focus will be on getting students to understand the meaning and application of the new sentence patterns and how they are different from structures they already know. In addition to understanding the grammar and sentence patterns, the focus will be on getting students to practice actually using the new material in their writing and in everyday conversations. Ongoing practice will ensure that students are not only able to speak Japanese fluently, but also produce correct and accurate language.
The basic flow of the course will be as follows.
1) Review of grammar/sentence patterns already learned
2) Understanding and building upon grammar/ sentence patterns already learned
3) Comprehension check
4) Introduction and explanation of new grammar/ sentence patterns
5) Comprehension check
6) Review
