【Course Objectives】

This introductory course aims to familiarize students with basic concepts and theoretical approaches in political sociology and to enable them to develop the ability to critically evaluate political issues and events in our daily lives through the lens of political sociology.

【Course Contents】

The focus of the course will be threefold. First, we explore basic concepts and theories of political sociology. Second, we develop gender/feminist perspective as a critical lens to investigate current socio-political changes in our daily lives. Third, we examine how politics and media mutually influence each other. By the end of the course, students are expected to comprehend how traditional relationships among nation-states, society and citizens are maintained/enhanced, reorganized, or dismantled by gender/feminist politics, as well as the practices developed through/on various types of media.
