【Course Objectives】

Students will acquire enough knowledge to be able to explain the expansion of the modern Japanese education system.

【Course Contents】

Modern Japan’s educational system was not only formed by schools under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education based on various school ordinances.Typical examples are as follows.
① Night middle schools and night girls’ middle schools in the form of various schools, youth training centers, and private schools that are not part of the formal school system.
② Secondary and higher education level schools owned by ministries other than the Ministry of Education, such as the Ministry of Railways, the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of War, and the Ministry of the Navy.
③ Diverse examination systems that bypass the formal school system.
By gaining knowledge about these things, students will deepen their understanding of the spread of the modern Japanese education system.
