【Course Objectives】

The goal is to analyze issues related to the media characteristics of novels, movies, and plays in postwar literature, as well as issues of expression based on the communal nature of translation, based on the theory of adaptation, and to understand the methodology. Furthermore, by understanding how the Asian region came to be represented in postwar literature, you will acquire a methodology for applying materials such as contemporary discourses on politics and culture to textual analysis from the perspective of the acceptance and representation of different cultures.

【Course Contents】

In the interrelationship between novels in the creative process of being made into movies and dramatizations, we will consider the question of how the novel undergoes a creative transformation according to the characteristics of the media, using the theory of adaptation. In addition to the background of the representation of Asia in postwar literature, the issue of international acceptance of postwar literature through translation will be clarified in the context of comparison with the politics and culture behind the texts.
