Through a comparative study of case studies of environmental issues, acquire the insight to consider social backgrounds.
Acquire knowledge related to the theories and research methods in environmental sociology.
Build your own research plan based on the relationship with previous research.
This class will focus on sociology of environmental issues. We will read some textbooks on major cases and themes from Japan and abroad, and examine the concepts and theories presented there. Through comparisons and discussions, students will consider commonalities and differences between them and link them to your own research themes. The cases and textbooks may change depending on the interests of the participants.

環境問題の事例研究の比較検討を通して、共通の課題や社会的背景などを考察するための洞察力を身につける。
環境社会学の理論展開や調査方法などに課する知識を身につける。
先行研究との関係などを踏まえた研究課題として、自分自身の研究計画を進める。
前期課程よりも高度な知識・スキルを身に着けることを目標とする。

このクラスでは、環境問題の社会学的研究の講読を軸にする。国内外の主要な事例・テーマを追いつつ、そこで示される概念や理論を検討していく。比較や議論を通して、時代、国・地域、関係者の行動などの条件によって異なる部分と、多くの事例に共通する構造的な特徴を考え、自分自身の研究テーマに結びつけていく。扱う事例や文献は、参加者の関心などに応じて変更の可能性がある。
This class will focus on sociology of environmental issues. We will read some textbooks on major cases and themes from Japan and abroad, and examine the concepts and theories presented there. Through comparisons and discussions, students will consider commonalities and differences between them and link them to your own research themes. The cases and textbooks may change depending on the interests of the participants.
