【Course Objectives】

The purpose of this class is to understand the theories put into practice by certified public psychologists in the industry and work area and how to develop support.
This class will provide students with a comprehensive range of clinical psychology knowledge, beginning with the variety of mental health problems encountered by psychologists who specialize in helping people engaged in industry, and will enable them to put it into practice. Students will come to understand the problems that can occur in the minds of working people focused on career advancement, thereby nurturing their flexibility in handling real-life issues.

【Course Contents】

The characteristics of the psychological support provided by certified public psychologists in the industry and work areas entails diverse practices. Therefore, this class includes many learning methods, as follows.
・A text and reference materials will be studied in classes that will then provide a base from which students prepare for a variety of activities in seminars. These will include group discussion, role playing, career interviews, and more.
・Some class sessions will be spent making off-campus visits to corporations getting first hand contact with working people. Students will examine what kind of stress is inherent to that particular job, as well as human relations and problems with career advancement and will then discuss and debate about how to deal with these issues and implement countermeasures.
・Students will then make a mental health plan that a certified public psychologist could propose to the visited workplace which will be presented to the class in a competition.
