【Course Objectives】

We define "design management," which has been proposed as a new management and business execution philosophy and method, as "creative management" as follows
(1) Design perspectives, ideas, and methods are reflected in the management decision-making and execution process.
(2) Consistent involvement of management personnel in the process is recognized.
3) Appropriate communication is practiced with the market, customers, and stakeholders
The main objective of this class is to provide concrete examples of practices equivalent to "design management" through "practitioners" who embody it in their own business (business). The examples corresponding to "design management" will be selected from among the Good Design Award winners in recent years in a variety of fields, and the purpose, significance, and specific approaches to management (business) will be clarified through explanations by those involved in each case. This will contribute to the acquisition of knowledge that will enable participants to creatively conceive and promote their own management and businesses by making use of design.

【Course Contents】

After a lecture by a design promoter on the basics of today's design, design consultants and other external lecturers will be invited to explain the philosophy and methodology of design that forms the core of "design management". After that, we invite managers of companies and organizations that have won the Good Design Award in recent years, as well as people involved in business, to explain the intention of design, the process from conception to implementation of the development of products/services and business, their sense of purpose, awareness of issues and vision, and discussion with the participants. The class will be centered on discussions with the students on these issues. In addition, field research will be conducted at offices of corporate design departments as environments where design is practiced.
In each session, we will invite people who are involved in management and project promotion, which is equivalent to design management, so we hope that students will actively participate in the discussions. Guest lectures will be delivered in person or remotely. If it is difficult for the parties involved in the project to attend, the lectures will be given by the lecturer in cha
