【Course Objectives】

The goal of the lesson is to learn the theory, strategies and methods of oral history and digital archiving. We consider how to record and archive history in a era of born-digital and acquire academic and practical knowledge to practice oral history and digital archiving.

【Course Contents】

Oral history has been practiced since the 1990s in the fields of political science (politicians, bureaucrats, etc.) and business administration (business managers) as a research method for analyzing decision-making processes, and has made great achievements in clarifying the actual situation of governments and companies that had been a "black box" until then. However, since oral history is characterized as being strongly defined by the interaction between the listener and the storyteller, its method has been regarded as the individual skill of the listener, and its spread has been delayed. In order to overcome this situation, in this course, we will clarify the issues and methods of "Oral History & Digital Archive" through the acquisition of basics, case analysis, and practice.
