Notes 社会デザイン研究科では、教室での対面授業を基本としながら、同時に遠隔地在住の学生の学びを保証するため、オンラインでも受講できる形で授業を行う。なお、履修者全員の了承が取れた場合には、「対面のみ」もしくは「オンラインのみ」で授業を行うこともある。

【Course Objectives】

This coursework aims to understand diverse currents of community design theory and practice in Japan. Each lecture scrutinizes history of local development and contemporary problems associated with community building. By doing so, students will learn designs for sustainable future from within diverse experiments of local change. Students also learn normative theoretical approach in the analysis and evaluation of community design practices.

【Course Contents】

The coursework divides into 4 parts: (1) Basic Theory; (2) Becoming Actor; (3) Politics of Local Commons; (4) Remaking Urban Commons. Part I introduces basic theories of community designs in Japan, deepening our understanding of key concepts and theoretical framework. Part II to IV discuss concrete cases from the vantage of specific thematic issues. Each class consists of lecture, small presentation and discussion.
