【Course Objectives】

The society, which 2050 carbon neutral target is trying to create, will require transformation of our economy and society developed since industrial revolution. Participating students will examine the 21 century transformation process from various aspects of decarbonization and plastic circulation. This study might give good image of future economy and society.

【Course Contents】

Guided by the 1.5 degree target of the Paris Agreement and the IPCC reports, major countries now have targets which achieve carbon neutral around 2050. Utilizing oil, coal and natural gas as fuel or material will be quite difficult by mid century. This means that the economy and society created by industrial revolution will be widely transformed in coming decades. This course will examine what will happen in this transition, review major industrial groups' activities and technologies, and will study potential impacts of decarbonization and plastic circulation on the economy and society.
The themes and order of the course schedule may change according to the interests and questions of the course participants.
