Students will acquire a broad knowledge of the theories and research methods pertaining to their master's thesis and graduate research projects. Students will critically review relevant prior studies and identify the originality of their own projects. Students will fully understand the style guides designated for their master's theses and graduate research.
Students will learn the translation and interpreting theories and research methods relevant to their master's thesis and graduate research projects. Students will engage in critical reviews of major prior works relevant to their projects. Students working on graduate research projects will engage in preliminary discussions on their projects, including the selection of materials, translation strategies, and methods of theoretical reflections. Further, students will discuss the relations between the theory and practice of translation and interpreting. Students are reminded of the importance of fully understanding and following the Rikkyo Style and the APA Style.

個々の学生が翻訳・通訳に関連する修士論文や課題研究に取り組む上で関連する理論や研究方法についての幅広い知識を身につける。関連する先行研究の批判的レビューを行い、自らの研究の独自性を見極める。修士論文や課題研究の書式面での要件を確認する。

個々の学生の修士論文や課題研究のプロジェクトに関連する翻訳通訳理論や研究方法について学び、関連する先行研究のレビューを行い、議論する。課題研究に取り組む学生は、翻訳の素材選択、翻訳方略、理論的振り返りの方法について初期的な議論を展開する。また、翻訳・通訳の実践と理論との関係について議論する。立教スタイルまたはAPAスタイルの要件の確認も行う。
