This course focuses on similarities and differences in language communication and aims to deepen discussions on topics such as pragmatics, bilingualism, and language acquisition.
Through discussion of various language-related issues and interesting linguistic phenomena, students will examine the characteristics of different languages (including dialects) and discover their research topics.
This course is designed to introduce students to the basic concepts of sociolinguistics and applied linguistics. The topics covered in this course include a wide range of topics as shown in the course schedule but may be modified according to the interests of the students.
This is an experiential learning course that includes group work and presentations.

本科目は、言語コミュニケーションの共通性や差異に焦点を当て、バイリンガリズム、言語習得、語用論など個別のテーマについて議論を深めることを目的としています。
【前期課程】 ことばに関わる諸問題や、興味深い言語現象を取り上げることにより、さまざまな言語（方言を含む）の特徴を考察し、自身の研究課題を見出すことを目標とします。

本科目では、社会言語学及び応用言語学の基本的な考え方について学びます。扱うテーマは、下記のように多岐にわたりますが、履修者の興味・関心に沿う形での変更もあり得ます。
なお、本科目は、グループワーク、プレゼンテーション等を実施する体験学習型科目です。
