This class will consider how peace can be attained in Asia. To do this we have to understand why peace has failed over the centuries. We have to understand various facets of war.
This class will look at a number of areas related to war in general, such as the definition of war and the philosophy of war. It will also consider nuclear politics. Finally it will analyze the origins of the Korean War as a situation where peace failed and the North Korean situation where peaceful resolution is still possible.

アジアの平和を考えるには、まず平和の失敗—戦争の起源—を検討することから始まる。この演習は戦争を思想的や歴史的に考慮して、現代の紛争を平和的な解決する方法を検討する。

この授業は戦争に関して色々な分野を検討する、たとえば戦争の定義、戦争の哲学、平和の定義、核兵器,
と戦争に対しての平和運動。それから平和の失敗として朝鮮戦争を分析して、戦争の可能があるケース、現代北朝鮮の状況も考慮する。
