Students will learn and discuss what philosophical monism and dualism mean and what they imply for our understanding of the world and ourselves, and consider the plausibility of some monist approaches to personal identity.
In this class, after reading articles by monist and dualist thinkers and discussing what monism and dualism mean and imply respectively, we will read some works on the monist approach to personal identity and discuss and consider its plausibility.

哲学における一元論と二元論がいかなる立場であるかを学び、我々が世界や自分自身というものを捉える際、一元論的な立場、二元論的な立場は、それぞれどのようなことを意味するか、また、人格の同一性における一元論的な議論は妥当か、などの問題を考察する。
Students will learn and discuss what philosophical monism and dualism mean and what they imply for our understanding of the world and ourselves, and consider the plausibility of some monist approaches to personal identity.
このクラスでは、まず一元論・二元論それぞれの立場を取る哲学者のテキストを読みながら、一元論・二元論がそれぞれどのようなものか、どのようなことを含意するかを議論・考察する。
一元論・二元論の立場が如何なるものであるかを捉えた後、一元論的な立場（特に唯物論的な立場）から「人格の同一性」の問題を論じるテキストを読み、その妥当性について議論・考察する。
In this class, after reading articles by monist and dualist thinkers and discussing what monism and dualism mean and imply respectively, we will read some works on the monist approach to personal identity and discuss and consider its plausibility.

論理学を学んだことがない場合、例えば野矢茂樹著（2006）『新装 論理トレーニング』（産業図書）や同著者（2020）『まったくゼロからの論理学』（岩波書店）などを用いた独習を勧める（質問も歓迎する）。
