While Covid―19 turmoil is fading, geopolitical risks are rising due to conflicts in Ukraine and in Middle East triggering food and energy price hikes. On the other hand extreme weathers caused by climate change continues to harm our society, which is caused by human activities. A third of the forest was lost since humans began agriculture. Our global economic value chain enabling mass consumption is damaging the planet by destroying biodiversity and by exhausting natural resource . Covid19 and military conflicts are also harming the lives of vulnerable people such as immigrant workers and small scale farmers and thus widening the income gap, making the attainment of SDGs more difficult .Usually business Is to be blamed for climate change and human rights fraud, but business activities are led by consumer needs .Now that not only government and business but consumer must change our lifestyle to more sustainable way.
What is the meaning of sustainability represented by SDGs? In this course we will go over the major environmental and social issues, and study about the role of SDGs and Paris Agreement and biodivesity flamework , all of which are intended to transform our society. Then we will discuss the necessary lifestyle change and also ethical consumption on each food, apparel, and housing.

コロナ禍が収束する一方で、ウクライナ紛争につづき、中東での紛争と地政学リスクが休息に高まり、気候危機による異常気象の影響もあり、エネルギー価格や食料価格が世界的に高騰するなど、世界はＶＵＣＡの様相を高めている。台風や洪水、干ばつなどの世界各地での異常気象は加速化し、我々の経済社会生活に大きな影響をあたえつつある。しかしこの異常気象は人間活動がもたらした帰結でもある。人類が農耕生活を始めて以来世界の森林面積の1/3は失われた。また2050年の海には魚よりプラスチックの方が多くなるといわれるように、経済活動は生物多様性を損ね、地球に大きな影響を与えている。また、コロナ禍とウクライナ紛争は、貧困層と環境に打撃を与えて、ＳＤＧｓのゴール達成を遠ざけている。環境破壊や人権侵害は直接的には企業が引き起こすことが多いが、その背後には消費者のニーズがある。今や政府や企業だけでなく、私たち消費者のライフスタイル自体をサステナブルに変革することが求められている。本コースでは、消費者の立場からサステナビリティの取り組みを考察する。

そもそもSDGｓのS（サステナビリティ＝持続可能性）とは何か？ 本講義では環境の持続可能性、社会の持続可能性について主要な課題について概観し、現在のグローバル社会を持続可能に転換させるシステム ＳＤＧｓとパリ協定や生物多様性保全の枠組みなど目的と進捗について理解を深める。それを受けて、消費生活の在り方をどのように変えるべきか検討していく。ライフスタイル全体の見直し、食・衣・住・エネルギーの３つの分野において、サプライチェーンに潜む課題と解決策を考察する。

研究科の学事・行事（報告会、進学相談会等）と授業時間が重複した場合、その日の授業についてはオンデマンド講義となる。
本科目は授業回の全てにおいて、理論等学術的な知見を踏まえつつ、担当教員の実務家としての経験、または研究成果を活かし、教員と学生との双方向の討論を重視した実践的な授業とする。学生には、課題の発表や討論など、授業での積極的な参加を期待する。
本科目は、博士課程後期課程におけるコースワーク科目である。後期課程の受講者は、前期課程の受講者より高度な知識・スキルを身に付けることを目標としたうえで、成績評価基準についても、前期課程の受講者より高度な達成水準を要求する。
