In this course, students will read and reflect on excerpts from important theories and will subsequently utilize the viewpoint of cultural studies to discuss the interactions between cultures and languages, the phenomenon of intermixing, and intercultural expression brought about by globalization. Additionally, the module will help students develop the ability to critically consider various theories while accounting for their backgrounds and other factors, and to investigate the possibilities of applying this skill to individual research themes.
This course aims to help students to read and discuss academic papers that focus on orientalism, nations, colonialism, imperialism, gender, ethnicity, and other issues in the cultural transformation, interaction, and intercultural expression brought about by movements that exceed the limits of human beings and capital.

グローバル化に伴う文化や言語の接触，混淆の現象，また異文化表象について，文化研究の立場から論じるために重要な理論の抜粋を読み考察する。各理論の背景などに留意しながら批判的に理論を考察する力をつけ，研究テーマの考察・分析をさらに深めるために応用することができるようになる。

人や資本の境界を越えた移動に伴う文化の変容や文化接触，異文化表象について，オリエンタリズム，ネイション，植民地主義，帝国主義，ジェンダー，エスニシティなどの問題点に着目した論文を読み，議論を行う。
