To gain basic understanding of the origins and evolution of Translation and Interpreting Studies and to learn about different approaches to and methods in translation and interpreting research, with focus on those relevant to students' MA research.
Starting with discussion on what translation is and what interpreting is, this course provides an overview of Translation and Interpreting Studies, including its origins and evolution, and key concepts and theories. Then it focuses on different approaches to and methods in translation and interpreting research. Students are required to give a presentation on research methods and submit a final report.

翻訳通訳研究の起源と展開について基本的な理解を得るとともに、翻訳通訳研究におけるさまざまなアプローチや研究方法を学ぶ。特に、履修生の修士論文研究に関連するものに焦点を当てる。
To gain basic understanding of the origins and evolution of Translation and Interpreting Studies and to learn about different approaches to and methods in translation and interpreting research, with focus on those relevant to students' MA research.
翻訳とは何か、通訳とは何かについての議論から始まり、通訳翻訳研究の起源と展開、鍵となる概念や理論を含む通訳翻訳研究の概要について学ぶ。次に、通訳翻訳研究におけるさまざまなアプローチや研究方法に焦点を当てる。履修者は研究方法に関するプレゼンテーションを行い、最終レポートを提出する。
