This is an intermediate course within the Translator and Interpreter Training Program.
The course is designed for students to acquire:
-Consecutive interpreting skills with systematic note-taking,
-Public speaking skills to deliver messages clearly,
-Research skills to prepare for interpreting assignments, and
-Vocabulary related to topics covered.
During class, students will be asked to interpret segments of a speech both from English to Japanese and from Japanese to English. This will be followed by class discussions and comments, which should cover: accuracy, completeness, word choice, grammar, style, and public speaking skills. Preparation, practice and reflection outside of class are essential to succeeding in the class.

At Rikkyo University, students are required to spend 45 hours of study (including class time) per credit. Please prepare for classes and review the materials accordingly.
Students are required to come to class in full preparation by doing research on topics to be covered. After class, students must write a report on their in-class performance and submit it with a short reflection.

This is an intermediate course within the Translator and Interpreter Training Program.
The course is designed for students to acquire:

授業では、さまざまな逐次通訳訓練法を紹介する。また、学生がスピーチや対談を英語から日本語、日本語から英語に通訳する。学生の通訳について、その正確さ、訳漏れ、言葉の選び方、文法、文体、パフリックスピーキング力などについて全員で話し合う。授業前の準備、授業後の振り返り、授業外での練習が必須である。
