Notes

【Course Objectives】

This course represents an advanced component of the Translation Professional Training Program and the Conference Interpreter Training Program, integrating key concepts and theories from Translation and Interpreting Studies (TIS). It is designed to enhance students' translation and interpreting skills and methodologies as they work on various assignments. This process will encourage students to critically analyze their decision-making and the effectiveness of different strategies in diverse contexts. Students will become familiar with practical work, understand professional ethics, and acquire an awareness of being a professional translator and/or interpreter. They will also reflect the understanding gained through practice in their research. The ultimate aim of the course is to thoroughly prepare students for real-world translation and interpreting practice.

【Course Contents】

Students will gain insight into the objectives of practical training, acquiring both the skills and the professional mindset necessary for their development. They will also learn about the service learning project "RiCoLaS," along with various internships and other practical training opportunities. With this knowledge, students will engage in discussions to set their own training goals.

Throughout the practical training period, students are required to document their (1) objectives, (2) tasks undertaken to achieve these goals, and (3) the actual outcomes of their training. In the concluding session, each student will present an oral summary of their entire training experience and submit a comprehensive report detailing their achievements.
