This course will provide a basic understanding of Christian art from the Middle Ages to the early Renaissance in Europe. Based on biblical texts and iconography, students will learn how Christianity has been expressed in art.
This course focuses on Christian art, primarily from Italy, France, and the Byzantine world. The content is the iconography of saints and the Bible, and students will deepen their understanding by comparing and examining the expressions in artworks with the biblical text , taking into account the period, region, and style.

本科目は、担当教員の実務経験、または実務に従事するゲスト・スピーカーの招聘講義等を活かした授業である。
ヨーロッパにおける中世から初期ルネサンスのキリスト教美術の基本的な知識を得る。聖書のテキストおよび図像学をもとに、キリスト教が美術の中でどのように表現されてきたのかを学ぶ。
This course will provide a basic understanding of Christian art from the Middle Ages to the early Renaissance in Europe. Based on biblical texts and iconography, students will learn how Christianity has been expressed in art.
主にイタリア、そのほかフランス、ビザンティン世界のキリスト教美術を講義する。聖人図像や聖書のテーマに焦点を当て、時代や地域、形式を踏まえつつ、聖書のテキストと美術作品の表現を比較・考察し理解を深める。
