【Course Objectives】

On successful completion of this class, students will be able to demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of the politics, economy, society, and foreign and security policy of Russia.

【Course Contents】

This course provides a broad introduction to Russian studies. We begin with a brief overview of the Soviet era. Then we explore key issues in the post-Soviet Russia, such as its political system, economic transformations and their consequences, nation-building and nationalism, gender order, demographic trends and welfare challenges, and foreign and security policy.
