This course aims at providing students with the following.
- Critical understanding of the concept of development, as well as the actors and issues in development
- Recognition that there are different sides to debates on the nature of development and underdevelopment
- Ability to ask key questions for addressing development issues.
Students are expected to be able to express their own opinions and develop analytical thinking to the issues through dialogue in class and assignments.
This course provides students with many aspects of global issues according to the list of Sustainable Development Goals. Depending on the availability of guest speakers, the topics discussed during the class maybe adjusted.

Students are asked to submit one short paper during the semester.
Students are also asked to work in a small group to explore further on a specific topic of global issues, and present in the class.

This course is conducted in English, and students are required to have an adequate level of comprehension, communication and writing abilities in English. This is not a lecture style class, and students are expected to actively participate in group discussions during the class and in group projects in preparation for final presentation.
Depending on the availability of guest speakers, the schedule maybe adjusted.
