【Course Objectives】

This course aims to explore common issues and challenges in intercultural communication with case studies and to discuss possible approaches and strategies for translation and interpreting. Another objective of this course is to recognize pragmatic and cultural sensitivities as integral components of intercultural communication by exploring differences in culture and language practices.

【Course Contents】

This course introduces key theoretical concepts of intercultural communication. Drawing on real-life examples in various settings, successful or unsuccessful intercultural interactions through translation and interpreting will be explored. During each class, students will be required to conduct individual research and give presentations on their findings, along with actively participating in class discussions. Each presentation will be followed by feedback from the instructor and fellow classmates.
