This course aims to reexamine the concept of "tourism," which has been understood on the presupposition of Western modern society, and to cultivate deeper and more comprehensive understanding of "tourism."
In extant tourism literature, the tourism phenomena has been generally discussed on the premise of homogeneous images of modern society. To overcome this trend, this course handles the tourism phenomena under the socialist and post-socialist regimes from the perspective of tourism culture and aims to introduce more dynamic understandings of tourism phenomena.

これまでの観光研究がなかば所与自明としてきた西欧近代社会を前提とした「観光/tourism」概念を再検討し、「観光」の理解の深化、総合化を図ることを目標とする。
This course aims to reexamine the concept of "tourism," which has been understood on the presupposition of Western modern society, and to cultivate deeper and more comprehensive understanding of "tourism."
従来の観光研究において、観光現象は比較的平板な近代社会像を所与の文脈として論じられることが一般的であった。このような傾向を乗り越えるため、本授業では、「もう一つの近代」としての社会主義体制下およびポスト社会主義体制下における「観光」現象を観光文化という観点から取り扱う。国内外の関連文献の輪読と討論を通して、「観光」現象の動態的理解を目指す。
